The motorcycle accident happened on FM 519 last week. According to police the motorcycle rider was struck from behind by a Ford pickup truck. The police found the pickup truck about three blocks from the accident scene and motorcycle was stuck underneath the pickup.

Police have arrested a 26-year-old man who has been charged with driving while intoxicated and also failure to stop and render aid.

The motorcycle rider was transported by ambulance to the hospital and reportedly suffered a broken leg and other injuries.

According to reports Mr. Thomas passed away at the hospital this Saturday.

My deepest condolences to the Thomas family and words cannot express adequately the loss of a person.

According to initial reports, investigators believe that the motorcycle driver hit a guardrail and lost control of the motorcycle. The motorcyclists were not wearing protective gear according to authorities.

The woman who is believed to have been the passenger on a motorcycle has been listed as critical condition at Ben Taub Hospital.

Both the SW. Freeway and Hwy. 288 were closed while authorities investigated the motorcycle crash.

It is unclear what caused the motorcyclist to veer into the opposite lane and hit the truck. The cyclist then skidded back across his lane and ended up in a ditch on the other side. Life Flight was dispatched to the scene and airlifted the motorcyclist to a Houston hospital were he later died of massive head injuries, HPD said.
