Reports indicate that prosecutors are expected to file charges today against a man suspected of intoxicated manslaughter in connection with driving a pickup truck into a home in Houston and killing a baby girl.
A home is supposed to be a sanctuary for a family and for the unsuspecting Cedillo family this has been a nightmare. My heart goes out to the family of this little girl.
The driver is expected to be charged today has been identified as 19-year-old David Chacon and is awaiting bail in Harris County Jail.
The baby girl originally was thought to have died but we later learned that she survived for a while and was on life support. Unfortunately it appears she later died from his injuries.
The reports also indicate that the man was charged with failure to stop and render aid involving serious bodily injury, which in itself is a felony.
According to authorities, the suspected drunk driver fled the scene after he ran a stop sign and crashed into the front of the family’s home early Sunday morning. On police later arrested the suspect at his home.
