Driver kills passenger in Houston car accident

According to authorities the driver of an Oldsmobile Aurora was traveling northbound on MLK Blvd. when he lost control of the car hitting a pedestrian, a fence, and finally a large tree and instantly killing his passenger.
The pedestrian was taken to Memorial Herman Hospital and is listed in serious condition. The driver of the car is also listed in serious condition after being taken to Ben Taub Hospital.

The Houston police are conducting an investigation into the fatal accident. It is customary for fatal car accidents to be fully reconstructed by police or state troopers.

Auto accidents are a leading cause of death in the U.S., particularly in the 21-24 age group. Seat belt use is now mandatory in Texas and can greatly reduce the number of fatalities.
