Houston police department officials indicated that alcohol might have been a factor in a fatal accident in Houston this weekend. One woman was killed and a man taking to the hospital for treatment of injuries.
It was early in the morning, around 6:15 AM and police indicate a man was southbound on South Main when that driver lost control, hit a curb and flew into the opposite lane and striking another vehicle then a second vehicle head-on.
Miraculously, the driver of the car that was impacted by the suspected drunk driver was uninjured. The driver of the second vehicle impacted died at the scene.
Police indicate that they suspect that alcohol may have been a factor. No preliminary report has been filed.
Charges will be swift and severe if the suspected drunk driver turns out to have been legally intoxicated at the time of the wreck. Juries in Harris County have been particularly harsh with drunk drivers in both criminal and civil cases.
