Fatal 18-wheeler accident closes I-10 in Houston

Katy Freeway was closed down for hours early this morning when two tractor-trailer trucks crashed and burned.

Authorities indicated that a pair of big rigs was traveling down I-10 this morning when one truck rear-ended the other truck.

The impact of the Houston truck accident was strong enough to flip the target tractor-trailer over and both tractor-trailers caught fire.  The initial impact is thought to have caused the death of the truck driver driving the rig, which struck the target truck in the rear.

Fortunately, the driver of the target rig escaped the truck fire with minor injuries.

The truck accident closed the major portion of the Houston Katy freeway for over 6 hours snarling traffic with many using the I-10 feeder roads to be past the wreckage.

One of the trucks was carrying cleaning supplies, which could have contributed to the massive fire that burned up the tractor-trailers.

The truck driver who perished in the truck accident has not been identified and our thoughts and prayers go to his family.
