Independent investigation ordered on San Antonio officer’s accident

The San Antonio Police Department has asked for an independent investigation of a fatal auto accident involving a San Antonio officer.

The Texas Department of public safety has been asked to head up the investigation of a March 7 automobile accident involving Sgt. Gabe tree being a.

The police department felt that an independent investigation into this the talent he would eliminate any appearance of impropriety in the investigation.

Sgt. Trevino was involved in a two-car crash in San Antonio. According to the initial police report the officers car crashed into a Jeep driven by a local woman who had died from the auto accident.

A passenger in the Jeep survived the auto accident although the extent of her injuries is unknown.

The initial police reports indicate that Sgt. Trevino failed to yield the right-of-way. There are also indications in the police report that the driver of the Jeep did not take evasive action.

Sgt. Trevino reportedly is on paid administrative leave pending the internal review of the accident.

I applaud the San Antonio Police Department in calling for an independent investigation. Even though it has been my experience that police officers do an awesome job in reporting the facts as they find them. It serves the public well to avoid any appearances of impropriety, and the Independent of the investigation can do no harm.
